Doctors
Dr. Tetyana McCain, DDS
Dr. Tetyana McCain, DDS, grew up in Odessa, Ukraine, before moving to the U.S. and finishing high school in Tappahannock, VA. She met her husband, Alex, in college, and together they’ve built a trilingual family (English, Russian, and Chinese) with their young son, two cats, and a toy poodle. Her multicultural background shapes her warm, welcoming approach to dentistry. Outside the office, she loves spending time with family, exploring nature, and discovering new cuisines.
Education & Training
Dr. McCain earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Juniata College and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. While in dental school, she served underserved communities, including rotations on an Indian reservation, which deepened her passion for caring for children. She went on to complete a two-year pediatric dental residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit and became a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist. After more than a decade of practice across the East and Midwest, she and her family are happy to call Eugene home.
Dr. David Rutgard, DDS
Originally from San Diego, California, Dr. David Rutgard earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from San Diego State University before completing his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at Loma Linda University. Inspired by his father’s lifelong commitment to medical missionary work around the world, Dr. Rutgard is deeply passionate about giving back. Giving back to the less fortunate is a core belief for Dr. Rutgard and as often as he can he travels with different non-profit organizations to provide free dental care to underserved communities. Another top priority for Dr. Rutgard is staying current in advancements in the field of dentistry.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Rutgard prioritizes staying up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry. His professional philosophy is simple yet powerful: everyone deserves to smile with confidence, speak with dignity, and eat with enjoyment. He is proud and honored to be a part of the Eugene and Springfield Kids’ Dentist teams.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Rutgard enjoys spending time with his family and his energetic Australian Border Collie. A true outdoor enthusiast, he loves exploring the coast—whether surfing frigid waves or enjoying a peaceful beach walk. He’s also an avid cook who’s always experimenting with new recipes. As a newcomer to the Pacific Northwest, he’s eager to discover local hiking trails, camping spots, fishing holes, and any outdoor adventures the region has to offer.

MEET OUR
Orthodontist
Dr. Benita Wong, DDS, MS
Dr. Benita Wong grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Honors. Once in dental school, she knew she wanted to become an orthodontist because it combined working with kids (which she loves doing) with art and science. She received both her dental degree and orthodontic post-graduate degree from the University of California, San Francisco. After graduating in 2008, she and her husband moved to Eugene, Oregon so her husband could attend the University of Oregon law school. Since moving to Oregon, Dr. Wong has practiced orthodontics in various towns through the Willamette valley, including Eugene, Cottage Grove, Salem, Keizer, McMinnville, Dallas, and Lebanon. She loves living in the Willamette valley because it is an ideal place for her and her husband to raise their two children. She and her family enjoy skiing, camping, exploring tidepools along the coast, riding bikes, cheering at soccer games, and volunteering at dance recitals. Dr. Wong is excited to return to Eugene to practice with the wonderful team at Oregon Family Orthodontics.
